Installation of Decryption Software

If you wish to accept Credit Cards you will need to install Decryption Software on your PC. The Decryption Software is available for MS Windows, Mac OSX, Linux and possibly others. This page will take you through all the steps necessary to get the Decryption Software working on your PC. If you cannot install this Software you will not be able to accept Credit Cards with PayIT.com.au.

Installation is a simple 4 step process:
  1. Install the GnuPG (Gnu Privacy Guard) Binary. The Binary can be downloaded from here. Please watch this Presentation before attempting this install.

  2. Install Thunderbird Email Client. Installing and using Thunderbird to pickup and decrypt your Credit Card orders is far and away the easiest method to use PayIT.com.au. Thunderbird is simply a fantasticly versatile Email Client. Once you start using it you'll give up on your current email client. You can download it here.
    The installation is similiar to installing any software, download to your Desktop, double click the file and follow the prompts. If you are using Outlook, Thunderbird will allow you to import your Outlook settings, we recommend you do this because you will soon decide to forget about Outlook.

  3. Install the Enigmail Extension. Thunderbird uses Extensions to increase it's functionality. The Enigmail Extension allows Thunderbird to manage your GnuPG Binary and Keys. View this Presentation, which shows you how to install Enigmail Extension.

  4. Install your Public Key into PayIT.com.au. Your Public Key is used by PayIT.com.au to uniquely encrypt Credit Card details sent to you. This encryption is impossible to break and gives TOTAL security to your Credit Card shoppers. View the Presentation which shows you how to configure Enigmail, create a Key Pair, save a Public Key to the clipboard and how to paste that Key into PayIT.com.au for importing.

Thunderbird will automatically ask for a Passphrase when it encounters an email encrypted with your Public Key. Enter the Passphrase and the email is decrypted. Process the sale just as you would any "card not present" transaction.

If you really don't want to do it the easy way, and you want to continue using your current email client you can purchase the commercial product PGP.
